For many people this season is hard. Maybe we are grieving the loss of a loved one or the end of a relationship or job, or are suffering other emotions and heartaches.
Hosted by Stephen Ministry, a Blue Christmas service allows us to acknowledge our sorrow and pain, our hurts and losses at this time of the year, and also seeks to help us acknowledge and feel God’s presence and His coming for us, to help us find hope in His love.
Transportation can be provided if needed - please call the parish office at 970-635-5800.

Year 1: From Eden to Exile
(Genesis to Maccabees)
In this first year of study, we walk through the story of salvation history in the Old Testament. Students will study each of the narrative books of the Old Testament in turn, tracing the covenant structure of God’s saving plan from the creation of the cosmos in Genesis to the victory of His chosen people over their Greek oppressors in 2 Maccabees. Students will gain a new appreciation for the significance and details of familiar stories like the Flood narrative and the Ten Plagues in Egypt. They will wrestle with difficult passages, such as God’s command to Israel to destroy their enemies during the conquest of the Promised Land. Students will also discover new elements of the history of salvation that bind the various stories together as a cohesive whole setting the stage for Christ.

On the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, we will pray a rosary and offer a brown scapular enrollment ceremony. Tradition has it that in 1251, Mary appeared to Saint Simon Stock. She gave him the Brown Scapular and told him, "Whosoever dies wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire. It is a sign of salvation, a sure safeguard in danger, and a pledge of peace and my special protection until the end of the ages."
