Blue Mass Honoring First Responders - Sep. 30

Blue Mass - honoring first responders

Saturday, September 30, 4:00pm Mass.

We will offer a special blessing for first responders (police officers, firefighters, EMS responders).  If you serve in these professions, you are invited to wear your uniform to Mass.

The "Blue Mass" is named because of the traditionally blue uniforms worn by public safety personnel.

We are celebrating on September 30 because it is between Sep. 29, the Feast of the Archangels, and Oct. 2, the Feast of the Guardian Angels.  Please show your gratitude for our first responders and keep them in your prayers.

Rescued - Starts Sep. 20

Continuing Christ’s Mission

From The Rescue Project:  We passionately believe that the most urgent task is the compelling proclamation of the gospel, one that not only shares it in an attractive – and concentrated – way, but that also offers people a way of seeing reality, and of making sense of the world, history, and life that is vastly different from the story our modern culture tells.

Our parish will begin a study group going through The Rescue Project, a 7-week course from Fr. John Riccardo, Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm in the Bread of Life Hall.  We will be providing dinner each night of the course.  The dates will be 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/18, 10/25, 11/8, 11/15 with a Saturday retreat on 11/11. (rescueproject.us).

The Search - Starts Sep. 20

What is the Meaning of Life?

The Search is an innovative video series that tackles the key questions of every human heart. We will meet Wednesdays after morning Mass in the Bread of Life Hall.  The dates will be 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/18, 10/25, 11/8, 11/15.

"No Greater Love" Lenten Book Study - Mar. 22-Apr. 12

Beginning on Wednesday, March 22nd at both 9:30am and 6:30pm.  The group will meet on Wednesdays for 4 weeks, March 22, 29, April 5, and 12.

We will have a book study on “No Greater Love” by Dr. Edward Sri.  You can attend either session, as the morning and the evening sessions will be the same material.  The morning session will meet in St. John’s Hall, and the evening session will meet in the Bread of Life Hall.

Best-selling catholic author Edward Sri guides you through the last hours of Christ's life. You will walk step-by-step with Jesus from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Mount of Calvary. Every step of the way, Old Testament prophecies, messianic expectations, biblical symbolism, and historical context shed light on the mystery of Christ's suffering and death. Experience a deeper understanding and appreciation of God’s immeasurable and unconditional love as you draw closer to Jesus than you ever have before.

· What was Jesus going through at each moment?

· How did the Old Testament foretell of Christ’s death?

· Why did Christ die for us? What did it accomplish?

· What was the meaning behind of the tearing of the temple veil, the crowning with thorns, the, and other events during Christ’s Passion

· What do the cryptic last words of Jesus mean?
