There are several events during the Christmas season at St. John's.  However, many of them are for the different groups who serve the parish or for St. John the Evangelist Catholic School.  Here are a few that are open to everyone:

Breakfast with Santa

Join us for a delicious breakfast with Santa.  8, 9, and 10am Sittings.  $5/person, kids 2 and under free.  RSVP forms can be downloaded below and must be returned to the school office with payment by December 8th.  See form for details.

Las Posadas

Saturday, December 23, 2017, 5:00pm // Knights of Columbus Hall
This is a Hispanic tradition, similar to a Christmas Pageant, featuring Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem and ending with the arrival of Jesus!  Enjoy traditional songs and bring a dish for a potluck dinner.  English and Spanish.  Everyone welcome!


SPEND TIME IN PRAYER

The Christmas season can be a busy time of year.  Slow down and spend time with Jesus in prayer.

Adoration

The Adoration Chapel is open to visitors from 8am-4pm daily.  The Chapel can also be visited 24/7.  Call (970) 635-5822 for a recording with more information on how to access the Chapel outside open visiting hours. 
CLOSURE:  The Chapel will close at Noon on Saturday, December 23rd, and reopen after 8:30am Morning Mass on Tuesday, December 26th.  There is no closure planned for New Year's Day.

 

LEGION OF MARY

Meets Monday mornings after 8:30am Mass.  Also prays First Friday and First Saturday devotions after weekday morning Masses on the first Friday and first Saturday of the Month.

 

Contemplative Prayer Group

Meets Mondays from 1:00-2:30pm in the Church.  Contemplative Prayer is a method of prayer beyond words, derived from ancient prayer practices of the Christian contemplative heritage, that involves opening of the mind, heart, and whole being to God.  Guests welcome!

 

Men's Rosary

Meets Wednesdays at 5:30pm in the Church basement.  Open to all men, the Men's Rosary Group meets weekly to pray the Rosary for the Pope and his intentions, and for all men in formation for the priesthood and the diaconate.

 

Sunday morning rosary

Meets in the Church Sanctuary at 6:20am on Sunday mornings to pray the Rosary before 7:00am Mass.


CHARITABLE OPPORTUNITIES

The Giving Tree

Found in the St. John's upper foyer, Nov. 18 - Dec. 10.  St. John’s 8th grade class is working with Catholic Charities to provide Christmas presents for 10 local families in need. Starting Nov. 18th, please take an ornament (or two!) from the tree in the church foyer, purchase the gift indicated, and return the unwrapped gift with the original ornament tag to the tree by December 10.  Students will take care of everything else!  Questions? HOUSE OF NEIGHBORLY SERVICE HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE

November 4 - December 31 // Inside the entry doors to the Church foyer
All Parishioners are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items as well as toiletries in the collection box between the entrance doors to the Church foyer.  Cash and Scrip donations may be dropped off at the Welcome Desk or to the Parish Office.  A collection box will also be available in the entrance to the Knights of Columbus Hall.  Needed items at this time include:  canned fruits and vegetables, beans, rice, cereal, pasta and sauce, soup, tuna and peanut butter in addition to personal care items for babies, children, teenagers and adults.  Thank you for your donations to help those in need this holiday season!

CLOSURES

Parish Office will be closed December 23 - January 1.  The office will reopen at 8:30am on January 2nd.

Adoration Chapel will close at Noon on Saturday, December 23rd and reopen after morning Mass on Tuesday, December 26th.  There is no planned closure for New Year's.
