The Perpetual Adoration Chapel at Saint John's

The Perpetual Adoration Chapel is located in our cry room at church. It is open to the public from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who sign the board in the foyer can select any hour except on Saturday and Sundays (check the board for timeslots). We encourage you to sign your name and phone number on the board in the foyer. Adorers and Substitutes are needed and welcome to spend time with the Lord. Why is Perpetual Adoration Necessary?

Jesus is always waiting to be with us. When Perpetual Adoration is offered, we have an unlimited opportunity to open ourselves to the saving grace our Lord makes available through prayer and devotion to Him. When a chapel is open all the time, everyone in the parish can take advantage of this special grace, day or night. Through Perpetual Adoration, we proclaim as a parish that Jesus is truly present among us today.

Why is Exposition Necessary?

Some might ask what difference it makes having the Blessed Sacrament exposed. Can’t I pray to Jesus present in the tabernacle? The difference is the same as trying to converse with a friend face-to-face instead of with a closed door between you. It just isn’t the same. Yet, the most compelling reason for exposition is because the Holy Spirit asks for it. Jesus made this clear: “Indeed this is the will of my heavenly Father, that everyone who looks upon the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life. Him I will raise up on the last day.” (John 6:40)

What are the Spiritual Benefits?

Each person who spends time in the presence of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament grows in holiness. There are also communal fruits of Perpetual Adoration including:

	An increase in Mass attendance and reception of the sacraments;
	Return of fallen-away Catholics and an increase in the number of conversions;
	An increase in religious and priestly vocations;
	An increase in community spirit;
	Renewal of Catholic family life.

How Can I Become Involved?

Perpetual Adoration is available for all. Our goal is to fill each time slot with 2 people so there will be a regular and back-up guardian. We also have 5 people who serve as substitutes. We are still signing up people for time slots. We ask you to sign up for just 1 hour per week to spend with the Lord. Two people can sign up for the same time slot. We also need people to fill in on a temporary basis to cover for those who are unable to fulfill their regular time due to illness, vacations, or other emergencies.
