Mission

The mission of Music Ministry at St. John the Evangelist parish is to ensure quality music at all Liturgical Services that reflects the culture of the congregation while following the Roman Catholic guidelines.

Meet the Coordinator of Liturgical Music

My name is Lisa Foncannon and I have been singing and playing for Liturgical Services for over 30 years. I have a Liberal Arts Degree with the emphasis in music and have sung and played under the direction of numerous quality conductors who have taught me a great deal over the years. I am a member of The National Association of Pastoral Musicians and attended NPM’s Choir Director Institute in the summer of 2006. As the Coordinator of Liturgical Music, I strive to serve the community of St. John’s while inviting other musicians to do the same. We have a lot of talent here and it is an honor to work with all of the musicians. For more information about the choirs at St. John’s, contact Lisa Foncannon at (970) 635-5888.

Musicians for Weddings, Funerals or Baptisms

If you are in need of Liturgical Musicians for Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms, or other special events, please contact Lisa Foncannon at (970) 635-5888 or stop at the parish office to pick up the Musicians’ List.  Each musician, while members of St. John’s, or who have familiarity with St. John’s are separate contractors.  Thus, fees for their services will need to be discussed with each musician individually.

Note: Generally Funeral Homes will call musicians directly and pay the musicians as well, thus relieving another stress for those planning a funeral.  All of the funeral homes in the area have a list of musicians’ names from our parish – so if you have a special request for a particular musician –
you may ask the funeral director to contact that musician for you when planning the funeral  All of the funeral homes in the area also have a list of music that is liturgically correct for a funeral, with the understanding that other songs may also be allowed.

Couples planning their wedding need to pick up the packet entitled: Liturgical Music Selections for the Rite of Marriage at the parish office.  The packet will include the list of musicians in the parish who sing and/or play for weddings. If you have any further questions, please contact Lisa Foncannon at (970) 635-5888.
