Big Thompson Council 3434

Mission

The Sweethearts of the Knights were organized in 1996 as an auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus Council 3434 for the purpose of lending support to the men of this council.

Membership

Membership is open to females over the age of 18 who support the ideals of the Knights (such as charity, defending the faith, and the sanctity of human life) and who wish to participate in Knight and Sweetheart activities. Dues are $12 annually.

Opportunity

The Sweethearts meet on a monthly basis, September through June and offer spiritual, charitable and social opportunities for the members. The Sweethearts assist the Knights with some of their social functions and fundraisers such as the Lenten fish fry, craft sales, bingo, dinner-dances, etc.

In addition to assisting the Knights, the Sweethearts sponsor their own fundraisers to benefit Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Saint John the Evangelist Catholic School and the community. Some of their fundraising projects include the Soup Kitchen, Life Choices Pregnancy Center, Birthright, House of Neighborly Service, and Meals on Wheels. The Sweethearts often lend assistance to individuals in need of personal or monetary help.

Additionally, the Sweethearts host the Knights Annual Father’s Day Breakfast and sponsor the Saint Gerard’s Baby Shower to benefit the local Birthright and Life Choices organizations. A live plant sale in May and a poinsettia sale before Christmas are also fundraisers they sponsor.

Meetings

The Sweethearts meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus Hall on the 1st Wednesday of each month, September through June. Call Elma Palomarez at 970-635-0824 for more information.
