Catholic Women's Organization at Saint John's

Mission

The Council of Catholic Women (CCW) acts through its membership to support, empower and educate all Catholic women in spirituality, leadership and service. The CCW at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church is part of the National Council of Catholic Women, an organization of more than 5,000 affiliated Catholic women’s organizations in parishes and dioceses throughout the U.S., representing hundreds of thousands of Catholic women. The CCW responds with Gospel values to the needs of the Church and society in the modern world by:

 • Transforming the world through prayer and action
 • Uniting Catholic women throughout the United States
 • Training Catholic women to become leaders
 • Providing a forum for Catholic women to speak and act on matters of mutual interest

Activities

At Saint John, the CCW is involved in many church and community activities.. Some of our recent activities include:

Providing altar and baptismal supplies
Funding, preparing and serving funeral luncheons/dinners
Setting up and serving receptions for church functions (e.g. welcome receptions for new priests, farewell receptions for departing priests, etc.)
Helping to sponsor a seminarian
Providing workers for a community kitchen
Hosting the 2005 Archdiocese of Denver CCW Convention

A new initiative for the CCW has been to support the youth of the church. Ten percent of our fund raising profits are set aside for this initiative. In the past two years, we have been able to give substantial donations to two worthy young people in the parish.

Fund Raising Events

Three to four fundraisers are held during the year to raise money for our many worthwhile endeavors. Our fundraising events include:

Bake Sales with homemade noodles, etc.
A Fall Festival or Bake & Basket Sale (baskets are filled and decorated by our members)
Valentine Day Card Party
Palm Sunday Weekend Bake Sale

Membership

All women of the parish are invited to become CCW members. Membership dues are $5.00 per year and we have approximately 150 registered members. Currently, there are about 50 active members in CCW and we are always in need of new members to keep the ministry vibrant and to help carry on God’s work. Women of all ages and interests are welcome with grateful hearts. Your talents and new ideas will be very much appreciated. God blesses us in so many ways, let us share our blessings by being His hands here at Saint John!

Meetings

The CCW meets at 11:30 a.m. in the Knights of Columbus Hall on the 1st Thursday of each month, September through May.
