What is the "Going Deeper" program about? |
This is a program that was initiated for the members of our Catholic faith –adults and late teens – interested in learning more about their church in an environment of fellowship and support. It is a program that is open to anyone wanting to know more about their Catholic Faith. The intent is to engage new and long-term Catholic Christians with aspects of their faith that intrigue them spiritually and intellectually. While the intention of the program makes no formal requirements on the attendees, it is expected that they will be enthusiastic in their informal commitment. There is no requirement for attendance and no accounting for such. Individuals will attend as the Holy Spirit moves them |
What the “Going Deeper” Program is Not |
| “Going Deeper” is not a Bible study, prayer group, or social gathering. We certainly incorporate aspects of all of these but our main emphasis will be to continue our education in our faith as a mechanism to reinforce the community by parish interaction. |
When We Meet |
| Going Deeper meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings last approximately 90 minutes. |
“Going Deeper” Program Format |
| We open with a prayer and then some general announcements and administrative items (about 5 minutes). Following this is a presentation period (approximately 30 minutes) where a speaker will address the topic of interest for the evening. Topics may include the Bible, Catechism, or other textual references. The presentation period is followed by a discussion period (about 40 minutes) where discussion ensues on the topic of issue. This framework and timeline is subject to change. |
